Abby Vous

70's Vampire

Abby Vous (pronounced voo) is a character that originally was just going to be a Dungeons and Dragons character but after a summer of non-stop drawing and writing and thinking about her, she became so much more.

Backstory

Born on March 2nd, 1956, Abigail "Abby" Bellevau grew up like any other girl in Maryland, she took dance lessons, fought with her sisters, and fell in love with disco music. After graduating high school, Abby moved to Santa Monica, California to pursue a career in dance and surround herself in the world of disco She changed her last name to Vous because she felt it fit her better. In the fall of 1976, she met and fell in love with a man named Edward "Eddie" Robinson. He was sweet and loving, he even took Abby to an ABBA concert in 1977 in London as an early birthday present. But then Eddie started to change, he became overprotective and manipulative. Abby brushed it off but it made her friends worry.

In June of 1978, Abby and Eddie signed up for a dance competition but a few days before the competition, Abby broke up with Eddie. When she realized what she had done, she pleaded with Eddie to still do the dance with her, which he did but he saw it as a chance to win her back. The night of the competition, Eddie was like he was when Abby first met him, sweet and thoughtful, the man she fell in love with. He walked her back to her apartment but Abby didn't invite him to stay. She said her final goodbye and thought that was the end...

Not even an hour after saying goodbye, Eddie broke into Abby's apartment and murdered her, but she didn't stay dead for long. The next morning, June 29th 1978, Abby woke up as a vampire.

Designing Abby

I started designing Abby in the summer of 2023 and at first, I didn't know what I wanted from her. I had core ideas of her: she was an ABBA super fan, she loved dancing, and she was a "dumb blonde."
